📢 Heads up, Star! Highway 44 Update 🚧
We wanted to provide you with an update on the ongoing roadwork happening on Highway 44.
🛣️ Traffic lanes will be shifting again as asphalt milling moves east towards the Maverick Station at Star Road. Please drive slowly through the construction zone.
đźš— Be kind to the traffic cones and patient with each other. We understand the inconvenience caused by the construction, but the result will be worth it when Highway 44 expands to five lanes.
🌟 Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. Stay tuned for more updates as we work to improve our roadways!

We've got more snow in the forecast. Here are some tips for your home or office, and on the road:
Keep sidewalks and walkways at your home or business clear of snow and ice as required by state code.
When shoveling your sidewalk and driveway, do not put it in the street.
If you have an elderly neighbor, shovel their sidewalk too…that’s how we roll in Star!
Don’t walk or drive on snow on your sidewalks or driveway until you've shoveled them. (You’ll thank us later!)
Keep storm drains clear of snow piles and debris to keep ice melt flowing and prevent flooding.
Use a brush to sweep snow from your vehicle before heading out. This includes head and tail lights. Make sure you have wiper fluid.
Give yourself extra time to get to your destination.
Four wheel drive will not keep you from sliding on black ice. Slowing down, keeping space between you and other cars and gently braking will help.
Slow down and give yourself plenty of distance from the car in front of you.
Use caution and courtesy around snowplows, and do not pass them on the right.
The Idaho Transportation Department maintains Highway 44. All other roads in Star are maintained by the Ada County Highway District. For information on how they prioritize snow removal and other information, visit their website at: https://www.achdidaho.org/Departments/MO/winter.aspx

Snow! It’s in the forecast!
If there’s anything Idahoans know about weather, it’s that weather changes quickly (wait five minutes?). Snow is already in the forecast for some of Idaho’s higher elevations, meaning it’s time to think about winter tires.
As of October 1st, studded snow tires, which are legal in Idaho, are again allowed on vehicles until April 30th of next year. Studies show studs are really only advantageous in icy and hard-packed snow conditions. When winter roads are dry or wet, studs actually decrease traction potential and can damage road surfaces. Traction of modern studless winter tires on icy roads are excellent, and tire manufacturers say good all-season tires are also a good choice for some.
So what tire is best for you? Talk to your local tire dealer about the kind of winter driving you’re most likely to do and make the decision that will keep you and your family safe.
And whatever tires you drive on, make sure they are properly inflated and have plenty of tread.
Winter is a favorite and active time for a lot of us. Just make sure you’re ready for the weather, because... it’s coming!
