Betsy had contacted me for a phone interview but I was tied up for days at an education conference. I provided a statement that was not used for the article. The quotes attributed to me were from a prior phone call for a different story.

The Idaho Senate has a history of respect and civility among its members. As Pro Tem, I will preserve that tradition for our members and extend it to improve our working relationship with the House and the other branches of government. We face unprecedented turnover within our body, and the citizens of Idaho who entrusted us with the important work of legislating and governing expect to see results. I seek to be a bridge between our desire for change and respect for our traditions.
