Much like law enforcement, military and any other job where you might have to depend on the one beside you to ensure you get home to your family, the fire station builds bonds that last a lifetime. Career and Volunteer we spend alot of time together at the station and out on calls; living, laughing, sweating and sometimes bleeding. We wouldn't want it any other way.

Tonight is the night! We are almost ready to start as folks begin to arrive at the venue. We would like to thank some last minute additions to our sponsorship list that we weren't able to get into the correct groups this week. Again, we are extremely grateful for all of the support we have had for this fundraiser and are looking forward to a great night of fun and gaming! Share our thanks with these folks if you can. Excited as a kid on Christmas Eve, we are 1 day away from our first Casino Night fundraiser! Continuing to spotlight our partners that helped to get us this far, we would like to introduce you to our "Captain" sponsors, including 1 that wished to remain anonymous(we did get a photo though). As we inch ever so closer to the Casino Night event, we will continue to highlight the people and groups that have helped to make this possible. Today our group is various cash sponsorships that didn't fit into one of the sponsorship teirs but are very much appreciated, and helped to fill all the gaps in what has turned into one of if not the most complex fundraiser we have attempted. Please extend our thanks to these folks if you see them or frequent thier business. We couldn't make this happen without each one of them. This is also a reminder that tickets are still available online and at the door day of, get your costumes ready!

As we approach the event date (Sat. OCT.10) of our upcoming Casino Night fundraiser, we want to showcase and thank our sponsors; whom without their support, this night would not happen. We were able to secure one "Chief" level sponsor and they have done the financial heavy lifting to ensure we have a successful start. Texas Metals and Recycling has graciously risen to the challenge and is our capstone sponsor at the Chief Level. Please join us in thanking them for thier support.

At approximately 14:20 today Merkel Fire was dispatched to a structure fire in the 1300 Block of North 13th. Upon the first units arrival heavy smoke was found coming from a single family residential structure. The occupants advised everyone was out of the building but one person was injured. The injured person was transported by Taylor County EMS to Hendricks Medical center with severe injuries. A quick interior attack was able to keep the fire contained to the kitchen. However, the entire home had major smoke damage. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the TCSO. Thank you to our automatic aid partners from Tye Fire Department, Trent Volunteer Fire Dept and Potosi Volunteer Fire Department. Thank you to Merkel Police Department and Taylor County Sheriff's Office for assistance with traffic control.
