Today is National Move Over and Slow Down Day.

If you see a vehicle stopped on the side of the road, be it a stalled motorist with its hazards on, a tow truck, or am emergency vehicle, you need to move over, and slow down.

It's the law, and it is a safety measure that allows us to work safely on the highway.

Remember, if you see someone stopped, it is someone's parent, son or daughter. Slowdown and move over so they can go home safely every night.

It has been just over a week since we had our 22nd annual Open House and Pig Roast. We would like to thank everyone who took the time to come out and spend part of their day with us. As usual, our food did not disappoint, nor did the crowds, prizes, fireworks, etc.

The pig roast is one of our only fundraisers we do each year, that is why it is so important for us to get it right. The committee that runs the event starts meeting months before the actual event, and from there the wheels start turning. From the ticket sales to the pig roasting crew who goes to work early that morning, to our kitchen crew, bartenders -we could go on and on. But it could not be done without you all.

Oh! And the music, thanks to H***y Tonk Highway for playing us through the night, and very special thanks to the Polish Cowboys for a quick pinch hit appearance due to a sudden illness.

Congratulations to all of our lucky prize winners this year, to those who did not win, there is always next year!

The ladies are working hard getting all of our raffle prizes ready for tomorrow. This is for the separate LONG raffle ticket tables.

These side raffles will start getting drawn at 6pm, tickets go on sale at 1pm, need not be present to win.

Thanks again to Samantha the paramedic, Danielle the nurse and Aldan the pilot for joining us this evening for training. Some of our crew greatly enjoyed the refresher, while many new ones learned much from their first of many trainings on this life saving topic.

Don't forget they will be back Saturday for our Annual Open House and Pig Roast, you can meet the crew in person and get a close up look of their airship.

PSA - if you hear or see a medical helicopter landing at our station tonight after 5pm - do not be alarmed.

Lifelink III is joining us this evening for our annual training on landing zones.

What to do on a dreary day, hose testing of course. Once a year we pull off all the hose off the trucks and racks and test them.

The purpose of this full day of work is to insure safety and reliability during an emergency.

Special thanks to Val for making sure we all had a hearty lunch with her famous chicken and biscuits, it was a great way to warm up.

Huge shout out today to Chris Albrecht and his son Carter Albrecht

They used supplies donated by C3 Repair and Detailing to shine up our apparatus for the Labor Day Parade tomorrow.

Chris and Carter put in a ton of effort for the project, and our engine looks as shiny as the day it came home for the first time.

Chris is proud to be a member of PRFD, and his son Carter is looking forward to taking fire classes and joining the department when he turns 18.

Besides being in the parade, look for PRFD members by the Eagles stand after the parade. They will be selling raffle tickets for our right around the corner annual open house and pig roast which

As we celebrate our nation's 250th birthday, we hope that you are enjoying this beautiful weekend with family and friends.

Unfortunately some events have already occurred in the state already involving tragic deaths. Please be very careful in all you do this weekend so this great celebration does not become a yearly reminder of a tragedy.
