Here's an update on the stray dog was found at Costco, whom we've named Faith—thanks for all the suggestions! We’re currently looking for a vet who can handle her specialty surgery. She has vaginal hypoplasia prolapse and some mammary gland tumors, and has clearly been a mom before. She is such a sweet girl and well mannered. She really enjoyed and desperately needed that grooming, and nail trim she got!

UPDATE: 10/21 we had another vet consult and both of Dr Myers ( husband and wife veterinarians) are confident that they can proceed with surgery, tomorrow morning!!

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to my veterinarians for their professional guidance, valuable recommendations, and prompt responsiveness during emergency situations... love you! I truly appreciate your support! ( Central Mesa Veterinary Hospital , Animal House Veterinary Clinic, Little Critters Veterinary Hospital, Cornerstone Animal Hospital , Trusted Paws Veterinary Clinic ) - they are the best

Mark your calendars!

HOW COULD ANYONE DO THIS TO THEIR DOG?! 💔

Imagine being so heartless that you literally toss your own dog out of a vehicle, so close to the freeway that she ended up running and had to be coaxed off the on ramp! Desperately needing medical attention. Has clearly been a mom, or recently given birth? 😡💔

This poor girl was dumped in the back of Costco at Sossaman and Highway 60.

Thankfully, my friends at Costco witnessed what happened, and it was captured on video. Because of them, this precious girl now has a chance, and she will receive the immediate medical attention she desperately needs. 🙏❤️

Someone who was supposed to love and protect her abandoned her in the most horrific way imaginable. She deserved a loving home, safety, and compassion—not to be thrown away like she meant nothing.

BUT HER STORY DOESN'T HAVE TO END HERE. ❤️🐾

I would like to thank costco employees who have financially contributed to her care. They not only donate food to us a couple times a week, but they truly do care about the animals!

When you come home and you find a pigeon on your doorstep self rescuing.

We get these birds in often, they're among the most misidentified by the people who find them.
This is Common Poorwill. We also get night hawks in as well very similar looking & same behaviors.

Cool facts:
They roost on the ground during the day and hunt for flying insects at dusk and dawn. They have a large gaping frog like mouth that helps them catch the flying insects. They are famous for entering a deep state of physiological inactivity (torpor or hibernation-like rest) during cold weather.
Common confusion and ultimately why people feel they need to come into care is often they find them sitting motionless on the ground, driveways, or porches and mistake them for injured birds, fledglings, or small owls. They are also ground nesters often found in it's sunny, rocky, open area sitting on a clutch of two very small camouflaged eggs.
Another interesting cool fact as a aerial insectivore they have specialized facial feathers called rictal bristles, hair like feathers around their beak, that help them hunt bugs and pectinated claw (a specialized serrated toenail) to scratch and straighten these bristles. Very unique bird.

🐢❤️ FREESTONE PARK TURTLE RESCUE UPDATE 🦆❤️ 10/9

Our team of dedicated volunteers returned to Freestone Park yesterday to continue the turtle rescue efforts at the south lake. Unfortunately, the conditions were much muddier and more difficult than we anticipated, and we were unable to safely access portions of the area.

We were able to rescue a few more turtles, including four during our efforts, one being a pink belly side neck turtle which was very interesting, along with another sick duck. Thankfully, the construction crew also discovered a turtle in the dirt they were excavating on the north side and quickly secured her for us. Every life saved matters! ❤️🐢

It was an extremely hot, exhausting day, and our team worked incredibly hard to save as many animals as possible. The reality is heartbreaking: we know we couldn't reach them all. Now, we can only hope and pray that the remaining turtles find their way to safer water or are discovered by the construction crew before it's too late.

We are not giving up on them. 🙏🐢 And yes, I'm still trying to convince everyone that the turtles deserve a safe return, too! 😉 I've heard “no” more times than I can count, but that doesn't mean I'm going to stop trying.

Through the efforts of East Valley Wildlife and Crystal's Critter Haven we are caring for more than 50 animals rescued from Freestone Park in Gilbert. The domestic ducks are expected to return once the park renovations are complete, hopefully in about eight months. We're keeping our fingers crossed that we can help make a safe future possible for the turtles as well.

This rescue doesn't end when we leave the park. These animals need food, medical care, shelter, and daily attention while they recover and wait for their future. And there's always others that need help as well. This is day in and day out for us, every day rescuing animals.

To everyone who has donated, volunteered, encouraged us, shared our updates, and helped make these rescues possible: **THANK YOU.** Your support means more than words can express. We couldn't do this without you. ❤️

We are still raising funds to care for these animals over the coming months. Every dollar helps us continue this mission and gives these animals a fighting chance.

🐢🦆 Please consider donating or sharing our fundraiser. Every bit of support makes a difference.
