For a magical night, VM transforms the light rail into the holiday tradition of the Santa express.

Since 2016, the Mesa Santa Express has brought holiday cheer to downtown Mesa as an initiative of Mesa Urban Renewal & Arts Lab (MURAL), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. We are incredibly grateful to Valley Metro, who not only provides the train, but also the dedicated staff who ensure the Santa Express runs smoothly — including operations and security to help keep all participants safe.

Every other part of the Santa Express experience — the cast, the tickets, the cookies, the bells, and all the magic in between — is made possible entirely through community donations.
Our cast is made up of 100% volunteers, giving their time and heart to create this special experience each year. It takes a tremendous amount of effort, care, and support to bring this event to life.
