On November 3, 2026, voters living within the Town of Gilbert and the City of Mesa, within the boundaries of the Gilbert Public Schools district, will consider Proposition 422, a bond election that would fund maintenance and renovations at GPS schools across Gilbert and Mesa.
If approved, a portion of the funds would be designated for Canyon Rim Elementary for proposed campus improvements, including:
Security Priority: Secured entryway for Canyon Rim Elementary
Critical Facility Upgrades: HVAC System, Plumbing System, Roofing, Fire Sprinklers and Alarms
Technology: Security with Unified Paging System and Classroom AV Refresh
As old debt is paid off through the secondary property tax rate, new bond debt takes its place, resulting in no increase in the tax rate provided the assessed value of property remains at least at its current level. Based on current projections, the bond tax rate is expected to remain the same and/or decrease from the current rate of $0.85 per $100 of assessed value, down from $1.10 in 2021 per $100 of assessed value.
