Six Places to Stay Silent at All Costs...

10/09/2026

Sometimes the person who caused the pain will tell the story as if they were the one who suffered most.

Don’t waste your peace trying to prove your side to someone committed to misunderstanding it.
You know what happened. Let go, walk away, and protect your peace.

Hurting others doesn’t make you powerful. It reveals your insecurity. True strength is having the ability to cause pain but choosing compassion instead. Never confuse cruelty with courage or fear with respect.

Here are some additional tips for staying sober during the holidays:

*Before the Holiday*

1. Plan ahead: Know your triggers and make a plan for how you'll handle difficult situations.
2. Attend extra support group meetings: Surround yourself with people who understand your struggles.
3. Set boundaries: Let loved ones know what you're comfortable with and what you're not.

*During the Holiday*

1. Bring a sober buddy: Having someone by your side can make it easier to stay sober.
2. Stay hydrated: Drink plenty of water and other non-alcoholic beverages.
3. Find alternative activities: Engage in activities that don't involve drinking, such as playing games or watching movies.
4. Take breaks: Step outside for some fresh air or take a short walk to clear your head.
5. Use the 4Ds:
- Delay: Take time to think before acting impulsively.
- Distract: Engage in a different activity to shift your focus.
- Deep breathing: Calm yourself with deep breaths.
- Drink water: Stay hydrated.

*Additional Tips*

1. Focus on gratitude: Reflect on the things you're thankful for.
2. Practice self-care: Get enough sleep, exercise, and eat healthy foods.
3. Have a sponsor or accountability partner: Check in regularly for support.
4. Find sober-friendly events: Look for events that don't center around drinking.
5. Reward yourself: Celebrate small milestones, like completing a challenging day.

*HALT* (from the original post) is also a great reminder:

1. Hungry: Eat regularly to avoid low blood sugar.
2. Angry: Take a break to calm down.
3. Lonely: Reach out to a friend or support group.
4. Tired: Get enough rest.

Remember, staying sober during the holidays requires planning, support, and self-care. You got this!

fight for your glow.

Know your worth, but don't spend your life trying to convince others of it.

If your kindness, loyalty, and genuine effort are consistently overlooked, it may be time to step back with grace rather than keep giving until you're empty.

Not every absence is punishment. Sometimes it is a healthy boundary.

The people who truly value you won't need to lose you to appreciate your presence.

Choose peace over proving your worth.
