It is with great sadness that we must mention a tragedy no one ever wishes to face. One of our very own officers was involved in a very vicious wildfire tonight that has quickly spread over 15,000 acres. Fortunately her and her family is okay. Downside is she lost what she knew of as home. Everyone please take a moment to pray for our fellow co-worker, friend & family Police Officer Shumate. Officer Shumate lost everything within a couple of minutes in Eastland county. If you have anything to send to her it would be greatly appreciated!Anything helps when you’ve lost everything.

I’m heartbroken with the loss of Sgt.Richard Houston. Every day, officer Houston put on his uniform to make a difference in mesquite and keep families safe. On Friday he made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, a debt that can’t be repaid. There’s no doubt that Sgt.Houston was a staple in our community and his passing leaves a tremendous hole in the hearts of so many people who had the chance to know him personally. My heart goes out to his family, friends, and fellow officers through this difficult time.

United States Task Force agents along with other joining agencies assisted Dallas County Sheriffs Office In a Major Vehicle Accident involving a fellow deputy.

One person is dead, two others were critically injured, and a Dallas County Sheriff’s Office deputy was injured following an overnight crash involving several vehicles in Dallas. The crash happened just after 12:30 a.m. Sunday Nov.28, after two deputies were assisting a stalled car.

A deputy was using his vehicle to push a stalled car on northbound I-35, near Oak Lawn Avenue, off the highway as the other deputy was blocking traffic.

That's when deputies said a car slammed into the back of the deputy’s vehicle that was blocking traffic, causing a chain reaction involving eight vehicles in total.

The car that crashed into the deputy’s vehicle had two people ejected. Those two males were taken to Parkland in critical condition. A 17-year-old, who was not ejected from the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A deputy was treated for leg and neck injuries.

Authorities said charges will likely be filed after it’s determine who the driver was.
