Chief Tracy Fails Q&A from October 2026

10/15/2026

Thank you to everyone who joined Chief Fails for yesterday's town hall meeting. Chief Fails shared an overview of the department, including activity from the past year, department statistics, personnel updates, and took time to answer questions from those in attendance.

Town halls like this will be a part of our continued effort to remain transparent, stay connected with our community, and keep open lines of communication. We appreciate everyone who attended, and we hope you’ll watch for the next opportunity to meet with the Chief.

We will provide a link to a recording of the meeting as soon as it becomes available in the coming days.

It’s not very often you get to TASE the Mayor!

Mayor Whipple volunteered to be TASED during Mesquite Police and Fire Night and got to experience 50,000 volts for a five-second ride.

You know it was a good hit when your head snaps back, you rise up on your toes, and you let out an uncontrollable scream!

And yes, you can tell the officers enjoyed it. We all had smiles on our faces because we’ve been there too, and we know exactly how it feels. Five seconds may not sound like much, but in the moment, it can feel a lot more like five minutes!

Thank you, Mayor Whipple, and everyone else who volunteered to be TASED, for allowing us to demonstrate how effective this tool can be and for helping make it such a fun and memorable night.

Last night was awesome!

Mesquite Police and Fire Night was a tremendous success, and our community showed up in a big way. We are incredibly grateful for the handshakes, the hugs, the kind words, and the overwhelming support.

We strive to do our best each and every day, and last night was another reminder of just how fortunate we are to serve such a great community.

Chief Fails summed it up best: “The support we receive from this community means more to us than words can express. Events like this remind us why Mesquite is such a special place to serve and call home.”

Thank you, Mesquite, for making the night one to remember!

The Mesquite Police Department now has a QR code that makes it easy for those who want to donate toward our community events and programs.

This isn’t going toward a new helicopter, a fancy espresso machine, or heated patrol car seats.

Every dollar donated is reinvested right back into our community, helping us support events and programs like Shop with a Cop, Sober Graduation Night, Police & Fire Night, Trunk or Treat, Faith in Blue, youth programs, and other community events throughout the year.

We consider ourselves incredibly fortunate to serve a community that supports its police department the way Mesquite does. But for those who have asked how they can contribute, we finally have an easy answer: scan the QR code!

Thank you, Mesquite, for continually showing up, participating, volunteering, donating, and making these events special.

A big thank you to Mesquite Entertainment for supporting youth safety in our community!

Mesquite Entertainment generously donated helmets, car seats, safety reflectors, and other items that will be distributed to local youth as part of their youth safety initiative.

Some of the donated helmets will be handed out tomorrow night during Mesquite Police and Fire Night. We appreciate their continued support and commitment to helping keep Mesquite families safe!
