It is with great sadness that I am informing everyone of the passing of Mesquite Pipes and Drums member Mike "Grandpa" Ecklund. Mike was a founding member of Mesquite Pipes and Drums and had taught himself the Pipes probably 30 yrs ago, long before we had thought about a band.
Mike lost his battle with cancer but is now in peace. His family said he had requested Pipes and Drums for his memorial service so anyone that would like to join us will be welcome.
I will post information as soon as I have it.
Thank you in advance for your thoughts and prayers for his family!
Pat

Members Chad Holmes and Pat Wilson attended the funeral services for Lt. Eric Hill of the Lubbock Fire Department. Honoring our fallen through tradition is the primary purpose Mesquite Pipes and Drums. We are honored to participate in the ceremony.

Lt. Hill and Lubbock Police Officer Nicholas Reyna we’re killed last Saturday while working a traffic accident. Firefighter Mathew Dawson remains in serious, but stable condition, awaiting multiple surgeries following the accident. Please keep him, and all the families involved in your thoughts.

In the first two weeks of 2020, SEVEN first responders have been killed working on the roadways. We would like to take this opportunity to remind our followers that incidents like these are completely preventable. When approaching an accident scene, please slow down, give us room to work, keep your phones put away, and pay close attention to the safest path of travel. Our families appreciate it.
