The Jefferson Parish Recreation Department joins the Mike Miley Playground community in mourning the loss of Shane Hirstius and his fiancée, Leah Fonte.

Shane grew up at Miley Playground, participating in multiple sports and building lasting friendships. His parents dedicated their time to coaching Shane, his brothers, and their teammates—a family tradition that continues today through his nieces and nephew, who participate in Miley’s sports programs.

The Hirstius family has been, and will always be, a cherished part of the Miley Playground family and JPRD.

We extend our deepest condolences to the Hirstius and Fonte families, their loved ones, and all who knew Shane and Leah. Our hearts are with them as they navigate this heartbreaking loss.
