✨ BEHIND THE BUSINESS – OCTOBER 2026 SPOTLIGHT ✨

This month, we're proud to spotlight a business that has become a familiar name to generations of customers across Mexia and beyond — Richard and Wendy Hileman, owners of Mexia Pump and Motor! 🔧🌱

🔧 Nearly Four Decades of Service
Richard began his career as a mechanic in 1987 before taking over Mexia Pump and Motor in 1989. For the past 38 years, Richard and Wendy have built a business serving customers across the whole State of Texas — from Corpus Christi to Sherman and El Paso to Texarkana.

🌱 A Legacy of Expertise
Since April 1996, Mexia Pump and Motor has been one of the longest-standing Exmark dealers in the country. Their shop works on everything from commercial mower fleets, trimmers, chainsaws, and tillers to small push mowers and w**d eaters.
But for Richard and Wendy, it's about more than fixing equipment. Their favorite part of the job is taking care of customers, solving problems, and earning their trust for years to come.
They've even had customers return to have equipment serviced more than 20 years after purchasing it — a testament to the lasting relationships they've built.

❤️ Mexia Is Home
Richard and Wendy have raised their family in Mexia and have no plans of leaving. They take pride in calling Mexia home and in operating a business that has been a part of the community for decades.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Family, Community & Life Beyond the Shop
When they're not at the shop, Richard and Wendy enjoy spending time with their family, including their five children and three grandchildren. They also enjoy hunting, working on their cattle ranch, and getting out on the boat for some deep-sea fishing.
Their commitment to the community extends beyond their business. They support local events like the Mexia Rodeo and the Limestone County Cancer Support Group. Richard has also spent years coaching youth sports, and today he gets to share that experience with his son while coaching local T-ball.

Exciting growth is happening in Mexia!

Thank you to KXXV 25 News and Raygan Lopez for visiting Mexia and interviewing Mayor Geary Smith about the growth happening in our community and our economic development efforts.

With new industry and jobs coming to Mexia, we are continuing to focus on the next steps—housing, retail, restaurants, entertainment, and creating more opportunities for our community.

We have already had over 250 responses to our community survey, and we still want to hear from you! Your feedback gives us valuable information as we talk with prospective businesses and developers and continue working to bring new investment and economic growth to Mexia.
