Railroad crossings are equipped with crucial information designed to keep drivers and pedestrians safe.

If you encounter an emergency or hazard near a railroad crossing, look for the Emergency Notification System (ENS) sign:

Stalled Vehicles: The ENS is the primary number to call if a car becomes stuck or stalls on the tracks.

Exact Location ID: Every sign lists a specific phone number and location ID number to identify your location.

Hazard Reporting: You can also call the ENS to report debris on the tracks, people or vehicles blocking the way, or damaged/obstructed signals.

Stay alert and help spread the word about rail safety.

The Great “ShakeOut” Annual Earthquake Drill is only four weeks away! More than 260,000 Missourians are already registered for the annual “Drop, Cover, Hold On” exercise.

“Many people do not realize that Missouri is home to a large, active seismic zone in the Bootheel,” State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) Director Jim Remillard said. “So far in 2026, there have been 110 small earthquakes in our state – the most recent on Sunday. While these are generally under 2.0 magnitude earthquakes and not felt by most people, the ShakeOut drill is a great opportunity to practice three simple actions so you’ll know what to do when an earthquake occurs, which can happen without warning.”
