💜 On Purple Thursday, ACSRC stands with survivors of domestic violence.
💜

Everyone deserves a safe place to call home. At ACSRC, we believe in safe housing for all who are in need, and today we stand in solidarity with survivors and advocate for their right to safe, stable housing.

Safety is not a privilege. It is a necessity.

Today is . Domestic violence is a leading cause of homelessness, and the majority of victims and survivors identify “access to money” as a barrier to leaving an abuser.

No survivor should ever be forced to stay with an abusive partner just to keep a roof over their head. But every day across the country, local programs and shelters are forced to turn away thousands of survivors in need, because they simply don't have the money, space, or resources to help them all.

Whether we realize it or not, impacted by these challenges. We all deserve to live in safe, well-resourced communities, and victims and their children deserve to know that help will always be available if they need it.

Take an NNEDV Action Alert and tell Congress to properly fund these programs: NNEDV.org/TakeAction

EXCITING NEWS FOR MISSOURI!

Sometimes, something you've worked toward for months becomes a reality, and you just have to take a moment to appreciate what it means.

We are incredibly excited to share that Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe has issued a signed letter recognizing November 2026 as Homelessness Awareness Month!

This recognition means so much more than a letter. It is an opportunity to bring greater attention to homelessness, housing instability, and, most importantly, the importance of preventing homelessness before it happens.

Homelessness doesn't just happen in large cities. It happens in small towns, rural communities, and neighborhoods throughout Missouri. It affects working families, seniors, veterans, children, and people who may be just one unexpected crisis away from losing their housing.

For months, ACSRC has been developing a statewide awareness campaign and creating resources that organizations throughout Missouri can use to bring this conversation into their own communities.

And now, as we prepare to launch Missouri Homelessness Awareness Month on November 1, we are honored to share this recognition from Governor Kehoe.

But this isn't about one organization or one community.

It's about the people behind the statistics. It's about recognizing the challenges our neighbors face. And it's about what we can accomplish when communities come together.

Throughout November, we invite everyone to join us in raising awareness, displaying purple ribbons, challenging misconceptions, supporting local organizations, and helping others understand that homelessness prevention matters.

We've attached the Governor's letter and encourage you to read it, share it, and help us spread the message.

Together, we can help Missouri see homelessness differently.

PREVENT HOMELESSNESS. RESTORE STABILITY. STRENGTHEN MISSOURI.
