Today Ms. Stephanie, a beekeeper, came to visit our preschool classroom! We learned about the three types of honey bees and how bees make honey. She even brought an observation box with many bees inside so the students could safely see them through the glass. The children loved this hands-on learning experience and we are so grateful for this opportunity 🐝 🍯

Mrs. Gretchen from Somerset Trust visited our Pre-K classroom today to teach the students about the names of coins and the importance of saving money! She read a fun story about 5 pennies and saving, and the students really enjoyed learning with her. Thank you, Mrs. Gretchen, for such a wonderful and engaging visit! 💰📚

From exploring the solar system last week to focusing on our very own planet this week 🌎💚
Our preschoolers have been busy learning all about Earth—what makes it special and how we can take care of it! We talked about recycling, pollution, and simple ways even little hands can make a big difference. ♻️✨
I am so proud of these kiddos for learning how to love and protect the world around them!

Aaron Reynolds, a children’s author from Chicago who has written over 50 books, came to MASD to read to the students. He shared Creepy Crayon!, and the kids loved every minute of it!
It was extra exciting because just yesterday we read Creepy Carrots!—they were so into it and thrilled to hear from the author himself!

I haven’t been the greatest at posting pictures (or remembering to take them 😅), but we have had such a fun December! We spent our days making snow, celebrating Buddy Week, enjoying holiday festivities, learning new things, and—of course—playing with friends. ❄️🎄
January has been packed with learning, too! We’ve been exploring winter and snow animals through hands-on activities and lots of curiosity.
We’re looking forward to wrapping up January by diving into transportation-themed activities and fairy tales 🚗📖✨
I’ll try my best to do better at sharing all the fun and learning that happens in our classroom—because there is so much of it!
What a great group of kids ❤️

🧸❄️ Hibernation Week Fun! ❄️🧸
Last week our preschoolers had an exciting time learning all about hibernation! We explored what it means to hibernate, which animals do (and don’t!), and the cozy places animals choose to sleep through the winter.
Our classroom was full of hands-on learning:
🏕️ We even turned our tables into caves so the children could color inside their own little hideaways.
🐻 And we had a very silly bear wander into our classroom trying to hibernate… thankfully, it was just Ms. Britney having fun with the kids!
🔬🍬 One of the week’s favorite activities was our gummy bear science experiment. The children made predictions and observed what happened to gummy bears placed in water, salt water, oil, baking soda water, and vinegar. Each one reacted differently, and the kids loved seeing the results!
🧘♀️💛 We also enjoyed another visit from Jamie with the HALO program. She taught us strategies to help our bodies relax when we feel big emotions — such an important skill for our little learners.
🦃✨ This week we’re moving on to Turkeys and can’t wait for more seasonal fun!
Stay tuned for more preschool adventures!
