Informed Families was grateful to visit Start Off SmartTeen Afterschool Program at The Healing Sanctuary in Homestead.

During the visit, teens learned about the dangers of drinking and driving and participated in an interactive impaired goggles activity. The activity brought a lot of smiles and laughter, while also helping students better understand how impairment can affect balance, awareness, and decision-making.

A special thank you to Start Off Smart for sharing this kind message: “Thank you to Informed Families for a great presentation on the dangers of drinking and driving!!!”

Joel Mesa looks forward to visiting again this fall for Red Ribbon Week.

Connection is at the heart of prevention. 💙

Informed Families was proud to attend the Miami Community Newspapers Breakfast Function with newly elected City of Miami Mayor Eileen Higgins.

Mayor Higgins is one of the longest-serving members of the Commission, with more than six years of service, and she has been a longtime supporter of Informed Families and our mission.

We are grateful for opportunities like this to connect with local leaders, community partners, and neighbors who care about building safer, healthier futures for youth and families across Miami.

Movement is more than exercise. It can be a powerful part of prevention.

Informed families partner with a few of our fitness partners to bring movement and yoga to Oak Ridge neighborhood center for families, creating space for wellness connection and healthier coping skills.

Activities like yoga, mindfulness, and movement can help reduce stress support, emotional resilience and strengthen protective factors for parents, youth and families.

Thank you to our fitness partners and everyone who joined us in supporting wellness and prevention in our community!

We are honored to share that Informed Families has been recognized by the Orange County Council PTA as a **Business Partner of the Year** for our partnership with Union Park Middle School PTSA.

This recognition reflects the heart of our mission: helping students, families, and school communities stay safe, healthy, and drug-free through prevention education.

Through workshops, classroom sessions, Red Ribbon Week activities, Safe Classroom programming, and interactive prevention lessons, we are proud to support students as they learn about va**ng, alcohol, drug misuse, peer pressure, and healthy decision-making.

Thank you to Union Park Middle School PTSA for this meaningful nomination and partnership. Together, we are helping youth build the knowledge and confidence to make positive choices.

Sometimes the most powerful lessons come from experiencing a concept in a new way.

During our Safe Homes Smart Parties presentation at Hialeah Middle School, students participated in an alcohol impairment simulation activity, often called “drunk goggles,” to better understand how alcohol can affect balance, focus, coordination, and decision-making.

Hearing students reflect on the experience reminds us why prevention education matters. These conversations help youth think ahead, ask questions, and make safer, healthier choices.

Prevention education is most powerful when students can see, feel, and talk through real-life choices.

Informed Families recently visited Hialeah Middle School for Safe Homes Smart Parties presentations focused on alcohol and drug prevention, safe decision-making, and helping students better understand how choices can impact their safety, judgment, and future.

Through classroom discussion and hands-on activities, students had the opportunity to engage with prevention in a way that was memorable, relatable, and age-appropriate.

Thank you to Hialeah Middle School for welcoming us and creating space for these important conversations. Together, we can continue helping youth build the knowledge and confidence to make healthy, informed choices.

Prevention education matters, and we are grateful for every opportunity to meet students where they are.

Informed Families was proud to take part in the Miami Jackson Senior High School Health Fair, connecting with youth and sharing important information about substance use prevention, alcohol prevention, drug prevention, va**ng awareness, and healthy decision-making.

Our team provides prevention education presentations at schools, summer camps, youth programs, and community events throughout Florida. These conversations help students better understand the risks of alcohol, drugs, va**ng, and other substances in a way that is engaging, age-appropriate, and empowering.

Thank you to Miami Jackson Senior High School for creating space for meaningful conversations that support safer, healthier futures for youth.
