Everyone deserves a roof over their head. The Trust is not a direct service provider.

The Miami-Dade County Homeless Trust was created in 1993 by the Board of County Commissioners with several primary functions:

to administer proceeds of the one-percent food and beverage tax;
to implement the local continuum of care plan, a three-phased plan, called the Miami-Dade County Community Homeless Plan (the "Plan"); and to serve in an advisory capacity to the Board of County Commissioners

FAQ: What should I do when I see someone experiencing homelessness?

1)  First off, many unsheltered individuals have most likely already been offered help, but refuse to take it.

2). County outreach teams cannot force people to accept shelter.

3)  M-F, 9-5,  you can call the Helpline at 1-877-994-4357. Note, this is not a transport line, but all calls are noted and outreach teams are regularly dispatched.

Be prepared when you call to give an address and even the person’s cell number, if they have one.

The Helpline receives more than 11,000 calls a month.
