Jewish Community Services of South Florida (JCS) Our Community's Safety Net

JCS reaches out to all who are in need, including the unemployed and underemployed, the homeless and near homeless, immigrants, the frail elderly, individuals with physical and developmental challenges, families in crisis, those struggling with addictions, at-risk youth, victims of domestic abuse, and neglected and abused children.

This is Leslie's Story 💜

Taking the next step in an abusive relationship can be extraordinarily difficult. Survivors may face emotional trauma, financial challenges, legal concerns, parenting responsibilities and uncertainty about what comes next.

That is why JCS Shalom Bayit (Domestic Abuse Assistance Program) provides individualized, ongoing support designed around each client’s unique circumstances and needs.

Leslie, a former JCS Shalom Bayit client, leaned on us in her time of need - bravely taking the next steps to start over her life in the midst of an abusive relationship, fear and uncertainty.

Today, Leslie is safe and shares her story from a place of healing, stability and renewed strength, using her experience to offer hope to others who may be facing similar circumstances.

Yesterday, JCS welcomed 6th graders from Temple Beth Am, Miami the JCS Kosher Food Bank (KFB), where they rolled up their sleeves to assemble breakfast baskets for senior clients of the KFB.

Thank you to these incredible young volunteers for putting compassion into action and helping bring nourishment, comfort, and care to older adults in our community.

Today, JCS is wearing purple with purpose. 💜

In recognition of October being Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM), our team is standing together in solidarity with survivors, honoring their strength and raising awareness that everyone deserves to feel safe, respected and supported.

Through our JCS Shalom Bayit (Domestic Abuse Assistance) Program, JCS provides confidential, compassionate support, safety planning and critical resources to individuals and families experiencing domestic abuse throughout Miami-Dade County.

Our JCS Kosher Food Bank High Holiday Food Drive was a huge success!

This year, our community truly made an impact. Together, we collected over 1,000 bags filled with more than 14,000 non-perishable food items!

For survivors of domestic abuse, finding a path forward can feel overwhelming.

JCS Shalom Bayit provides compassionate, individualized support to help survivors and their families move toward safety, stability, and healing.

Over the past year, Shalom Bayit provided 200+ hours of therapy, 165+ food packages, and support for 100+ children, along with access to legal referrals, peer support groups, job preparedness workshops, and continued guidance from specialized team members.

Behind every number is a person, a family, and a story of courage and healing.

Our JCS Contact Center was proud to participate in Miami-Dade County’s 5K Family Fun Day! Our team connected with community members and raised awareness about the resources and support available through JCS 211 Miami and the 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline, both proudly provided by JCS for Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties.

We even had a few of our youngest team members join in on the fun, as staff brought their children along for a day of community connection! 💙

JCS is so grateful to the Raza family, and everyone who joined us for a scavenger hunt at Milam’s in support of our JCS Family Case Management clients! 💙

Thanks to the generosity and teamwork of our participants, we collected over $2,000 worth of groceries to support food- insecure families in our community. Every contribution helps us continue making a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve.

Yesterday, our amazing families packed 100 Thanksgiving food baskets for Holocaust Survivors and homebound seniors to enjoy this holiday season. Through acts of kindness and community service, they are helping bring warmth, care, and joy to those who need it most.
