💚 Today, we joinedChamber SOUTHH to launch the Neuroinclusion Task Force during National Disability Employment Awareness Month.

Our panel focused on how South Dade businesses can take practical steps toward neuroinclusive hiring through employer training, workplace resources, and stronger partnerships with local government.

Thank you to our municipal and our ChamberSOUTH partners for helping build this regional coalition. 🤝

The goal is fewer barriers, more employment opportunities, and greater independence for neurodivergent adults.

Congratulations to Cesar L. Alvarez on receiving the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce Sand in My Shoes®️ Award, Miami’s highest honor for community leadership.

Cesar came to Miami from Cuba as a teenager and helped build Greenberg Traurig into a global firm, putting our city on the world stage. Through United Way, Frost Science, Miami Dade College and so much more, he has helped build institutions that will serve our community for generations.

One chapter of his story is especially close to my heart. Cesar was the attorney who guided the purchase of Radio Mambí, along with the talent who made it the voice of so many in our community. That station holds a special place in my life, and Cesar helped make its story possible.

Congratulations, Cesar. Miami is better because you chose to call it home.

I enjoyed joining the panel “Every Community Has Twice-Exceptional & Gifted Learners” to discuss better identification, support, and opportunities for gifted and twice-exceptional (2e) students.

Today at the Miami Loop Summit, we discussed how to connect more than 200 miles of trails and greenways across Miami-Dade, improving safety, mobility, and access to our parks and neighborhoods. 🌳

The goal isn’t just more trails. It’s a safer, connected network that works for everyone.

I spoke with Jorge de Moya ofThe de Moya Foundationn about their work helping young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities find and maintain jobs in Miami-Dade County.

Through job training, coaching, and employer partnerships, they’re removing barriers and creating real opportunities.

Since 2009, HIP has changed how young people learn about mental health, bullying, substance abuse, and other challenges they face every day.

📚 More than 575,000 freshmen reached.
🎤 Over 30,000 student peer educators trained.
🏫 More than 115 partner high schools.

As a former Miami-Dade School Board member and a parent, I know how important it is for students to have trusted people and reliable resources they can turn to.

Education changes lives when students can actually access it. 🎓

It was a pleasure joiningMiami Dade Collegee e for the American Dream Scholars Pinning Ceremony, recognizing students who have earned the opportunity to keep moving forward.

Today’s transit vote included several important changes I pushed for to protect riders and make the system more accountable.

🚆 The County will move to develop a plan for a $1 Metromover fare, including collection costs.

🚌 The new revenue will help protect late-night bus service and routes that were facing cuts.

💛 Free and subsidized fares remain in place for qualifying students, seniors and veterans.

If riders are being asked to pay more, County government also has a responsibility to find savings, review subsidies and make sure every part of the transit system contributes.
