Last month, Project BRAVE brought Youth Violence Prevention Week to Westpine Middle School—reaching 150 students through interactive stations on managing emotions, resolving conflict, and making safe choices.

From honest conversations to fun scratch-off prizes 🎟️, students stayed fully engaged and connected these lessons to their own lives.

This was more than awareness. It was about showing up, building trust, and giving youth tools they can carry forward.

This Mental Health Awareness Month, Gang Alternative, Inc.’s Project CAATS is reminding us that words matter. The way we talk about trauma, stress, and emotional struggles can either create barriers or open doors to healing—especially in communities carrying the weight of collective trauma. Let’s choose language that reduces stigma, builds trust, and supports healing across South Florida.

Gang Alternative, Inc. invites you and your team to a FREE Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) certification training — an evidence-based course that equips adults to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges in youth.

YMHFA is ideal for any adult who works with or supports youth, including:
