Advocate Program was excited to be part of the BMSF Grantee Summit last week along with the honorable . This wonderful event provided grantees with the opportunity to come together to share and learn on amazing outcomes and findings in several sectors in our communities including brain health and cancer research. AP’s Pathways to Recovery Program Coordinator Maha Hejazi, shared the work of our Team, who is working to provide a comprehensive community response to individuals with serious mental health including participants of our local problem solving courts.

Advocate Program is proud to announce the appointment of our newest Board Member, David Muniz. David brings a powerful combination of service, leadership, & technical expertise as a Senior Executive Support Engineer at & a former U.S. veteran. His commitment to excellence & mission-driven impact aligns seamlessly with our work to support & strengthen the communities we serve.
Reflecting on his decision to join the board, David shared:
“I’ve always tried to model my purpose in life around what Winston Churchill once said: ‘We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.’ At this stage of my life & career, I can think of no better way to put that philosophy into action than by serving as an Advocate Program Board Member.” We’re excited for the perspective & leadership he will bring as we continue advancing our mission. AP is thrilled to announce a Veteran Job & Resource Fair on March 18th at the Arcola Lakes Branch Library, 8240 NW 7th Ave, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Onsite interviews with companies and valuable resources from community partners will be available. The Gift of Recovery: This holiday season, Advocate Program hosted an in-person recovery community event bringing people together in both English & Spanish. Through open conversation & shared reflection, participants explored ways to navigate the holidays with intention, connection, & support. Guided by our Peer Recovery Specialists, whose lived experience brings authenticity & trust, the room was filled with engagement, insight, & mutual respect. & food! Don’t forget food! This is what building recovery community looks like: people supporting people, together!

This Give Miami Day, AP was selected alongside other incredible nonprofits to receive a $100,000 donation from The Lowell & Betty Dunn Family Foundation! These funds will support our ongoing mission to support veterans in our communities. We are honored to be recognized for our work & we extend our heartfelt thanks to the Lowell & Betty Dunn Family Foundation for uplifting organizations doing meaningful work across Miami-Dade County. Together, we are building a stronger Miami for those who served our country.
