On June 6, 1944, American heroes of the 16th Infantry Regiment, U.S. 1st Infantry Division, answered the call of duty as they landed on Omaha Beach during the D-Day invasion of Normandy. Facing overwhelming odds, they fought with unmatched courage, determination, and love of country to defend freedom around the world.

Today, we honor their sacrifice, remember those who gave their lives, and proudly salute the Greatest Generation whose bravery helped secure the blessings of liberty for future generations. God bless our veterans, our fallen heroes, and the United States of America. 🇺🇸

Last night I had an incredible time attending an exclusive gathering hosted by the FIFA World Cup 2026™️ Miami Host Committee alongside FIFA President Gianni Infantino, renowned music producer Emilio Estefan, and regional leaders committed to advancing the global impact of the world’s most celebrated sporting event.

The evening was a reminder of what can be accomplished when communities come together around a shared vision.

During my time as a Miami-Dade County Commissioner, I was proud to be among the early supporters of the effort to bring the FIFA World Cup 2026™ to South Florida. Even then, I recognized the incredible opportunity it represented—not only for our economy, but for our culture, our businesses, and our place on the world stage.

Seeing that vision become a reality is a testament to years of collaboration, dedication, and hard work from so many people across our city.

The FIFA World Cup 2026™️ will leave a lasting legacy for generations to come, and South Florida is ready to shine.

What an incredible honor to witness the launch of “Love Always Wins,” the inspiring new song written and produced by Emilio Estefan for the official FIFA World Cup 2026™ Album.

Being surrounded by leaders, artists, visionaries, and members of our community at the beautiful Gary Nader Art Centre was a powerful reminder of how music, culture and as the world prepares for FIFA World Cup 2026™, Miami continues to shine as a global stage where diversity, creativity, and opportunity come together.

The message is simple yet powerful:

What an honor it was it attend such a historic forum highlighting the significance of Cuba’s 1940 Constitution as a foundation for a future democratic transition and the preservation of the Republic of Cuba.

The event brought together distinguished leadersand advocates for freedom, including Luis González Vega, Iván Sánchez, Eduardo Zayas Bazán, Héctor Lans, Marcel Felipe, Joe Chi, Nicolás Gutiérrez, Alberto Luzárraga, Julio Shilling, Dr. Manuel Alzugaray, Jim Cason, Néstor T. Carbonell, Madeline Pumariega, United States Attorney for the District of Southern Florida Jason Redding Quiñones and Yara Lorenzo Klukas, along with mayors, religious leaders, academics, and members of the Cuban exile community.

The forum served as a powerful reminder that any democratic transition must be rooted in historical legitimacy, constitutional continuity, and respect for the Cuban people.

Today, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our nation.

On this Memorial Day, we also hold close the families who carry the weight of that loss each day.

Because of these heroes, we continue to live in freedom, and for that, we remain forever grateful.
