Last weekend's October battle assembly was one of celebration and farewells. On Sunday the unit celebrated CPT Evan Doyle 's promotion to MAJ with his wife and children present, not to be forgotten, is his newborn just born last week- double congrats to you and your family Sir! Also on the agenda was a cumulnating celebration of 28 years of military service for St.Pete's Team Cheif, LTC Billy Ruhling. LTC Ruhling also served 4 years at West Point and was in transportation before signing onto the competitive FLEP program in the JAG Corps in the 90's. His sister, Amy was there in support as well as his girlfriend Paola, his mother attended virtually. Finally, we said farewell, to one of our full time staff members, SFC Amanda Rundle who will be medically retiring at the end of December. She came to the 174th LOD in June of 2021. She has served in the Army for 13 years and 9 as AGR. She deployed to Afghanistan at the end of 2011 through October of 2012. The 174th continues to grow and change with each month and we are looking for new team members. The 174th paid tribute to LTC Joseph Owens on the occasion of his retirement after 33 years of dedicated service to his country. LTC Owens wife, Stacy and other special guests were present both in person and virtually. The event was held at the beautiful Miami Lakes Hotel and Conference Center. LTC Owens has served as as our S3/S1 OIC for the last year and has imparted much wisdom and character into the 174th. He will be missed!
