We're excited to celebrate our 2026 Power for Good grant recipients and the great work they're accomplishing across La Porte County.

Held at the STAR Center, this informal, drop-in reception is taking the place of Unity's Annual Luncheon and focuses on recognizing and connecting with our grant recipients.

There is no scheduled program and no cost to attend. Refreshments will be provided. Bring a friend!

Developers, funders, government officials, nonprofit organizations, and service providers are invited to attend Attainable Housing Convening 2026 | Building Momentum on Wednesday, October 28. Supported by Unity Foundation of La Porte County and Health Foundation of La Porte, the convening will bring together partners working to increase attainable housing throughout La Porte County.

The morning will kick off with keynote speakers Jeri Pat Gabbert of Unity Foundation of La Porte County and Eric DeWald of HFL and a Barriers to Attainable Housing Fireside Chat with Ed Seal of CoAction (CoAction.Care)and Major Becky Simmons of Salvation Army of La Porte County (The Salvation Army Michigan City Corps and Community Center).

Then guests will attend two breakout sessions:

▪️Making Things Work: Pre-approved Plans & Zoning Updates
▪️How Housing & Services Work Together

Breakout Session 2 (two options)
▪️Housing Preservation and Vacant Property Reuse: A Report from the Center for Community Progress
▪️Building for Resilience & Sustainability: Green building practices, certifications, and funding opportunities

Following lunch, guests will enjoy afternoon plenary sessions:
