In the summer of 2026, Governor Scott signed Act 127, a key provision of which designated the third Monday of October as "Vermont Libraries Day."

To commemorate this important occasion, on Monday, October 19 at 2:00pm, the Ilsley will be hosting a celebration in the second floor Gathering Space! Join Ilsley director Dana for c***r, donuts, and conversation about the Ilsley and all things Vermont libraries. We hope to see you there!

❤️ Join us this Saturday, October 10 for two special events at the library that are part of Porter Palliative Care's "Stories from the Heart" event series.

From 12-4pm, community members can stop by the library to decorate a luminary to honor someone they have loved and lost. These will be displayed along Main Street and lit on the evening of October 14th. Drop in any time between 12-4.

From 3-4:30pm, community members can participate in a "Death Cafe" - a warm, welcoming, and confidential space for honest conversations about death and dying. Attendees should arrive by 2:50pm if they'd like to participate.
