Middlefield Police Department

10/11/2026

Welcome to Andrew Monk who was sworn in as a full-time police officer for Middlefield Village last Thursday. Officer Monk brings with him seventeen years of law enforcement experience (including three as a SRO) and he will be assigned to the Cardinal Schools as a SRO. His hiring brings the total number of certified SROs at the Middlefield Police Department to seven officers.

We are excited to start this next chapter with the cooperation of the Cardinal Local School District and look forward to working together to keep our children and school staff members safe.

It’s been a sad day for us in Middlefield Village today. This morning we lost a true leader when recently retired fire chief Bill Reed passed away.

Chief Reed has been a pillar in the Geauga County community for several years and just completed nearly 40 years of service with the Middlefield Fire Department. Throughout those years he mentored many people whether they were firefighters, emergency medical personnel or law enforcement officers. He was a kind man who loved on the people around him and helped his team to become better public servants. We will miss you Chief Reed but your legacy will live on through the many people that you’ve shepherded over the years.

Thank you to the Cardinal Local Schools, Middlefield Fire Department, Geauga County Sheriff’s Office, Community Care Ambulance and our volunteers for assisting us with Safety Town this year. It was another successful year of teaching our youngest students how to be safe.

Yesterday we had another opportunity to bring a friend to school in a police car. She was one of two winners for this prize and we had fun talking on the way to school.

We had a great time this morning bringing one of our friends to school as part of her “Ride to school in a police car” prize. We love collaborating with our friends at Cardinal Local Schools.
