Introducing the Monroe Township Police Department K9 Unit
The Monroe Township Police Department is proud to officially introduce our two new narcotics detection K9 teams: Officer Jake Lloyd and K9 Storm, and Officer Richard Diaz and K9 Stryker.
Both teams have successfully completed their training and are now officially serving the Monroe Township community.
Storm and Stryker were fully donated to the Monroe Township Police Department through K9 Protectors. All other program expenses are being funded through asset forfeiture funds.
Meet Officer Jake Lloyd and K9 Storm
Officer Lloyd has served with the Monroe Township Police Department since 2020 and currently serves as a Field Training Officer, Drug Recognition Expert, and member of the Honor Guard.
He has also been recognized multiple times by Mothers Against Drunk Driving for his work in DUI enforcement and drug recognition expertise.
Officer Lloyd and K9 Storm have successfully completed their training and now officially serve as one of the department’s narcotics detection K9 teams.
Meet K9 Storm
Storm’s journey to Monroe Township began in Virginia, where he was found roaming by the Quantico Police Department and brought to the Prince William County Animal Shelter.
After being adopted, Storm was surrendered back to the shelter just two days later.
Instead of that being the end of his story, Storm was rescued through K9 Protectors, where his potential as a working dog was recognized.
Today, Storm has successfully completed his narcotics detection training and officially serves alongside Officer Jake Lloyd as a member of the Monroe Township Police Department K9 Unit.
Meet Officer Richard Diaz and K9 Stryker
Officer Diaz has served with the Monroe Township Police Department since 2020 and currently serves as a Field Training Officer, Honor Guard Member, Bike Unit Coordinator, and Spanish Language Translator.
Officer Diaz and K9 Stryker have successfully completed their training and now officially serve as the department’s second narcotics detection K9 team.
Meet K9 Stryker
Stryker’s story is one of rescue and second chances.
Stryker was in a shelter in Los Angeles and was less than an hour away from being euthanized when he was rescued through K9 Protectors.
He was given a second chance, trained for a career in law enforcement, and now officially serves alongside Officer Richard Diaz as a member of the Monroe Township Police Department K9 Unit.
From a shelter in Los Angeles to serving the residents of Monroe Township, Stryker’s journey is a reminder of what a second chance can become.
The organization behind the second chances
Storm and Stryker’s stories would not be possible without K9 Protectors.
K9 Protectors rescues shelter dogs with the drive and potential for police work, trains them, and gives them the opportunity to serve communities through careers in law enforcement.
Both Storm and Stryker were fully donated to the Monroe Township Police Department through K9 Protectors.
We are incredibly grateful to K9 Protectors for their dedication, generosity, and belief in these dogs. Their work helped make the Monroe Township Police Department K9 Unit possible.
All remaining program expenses are being covered through asset forfeiture funds.
Two dogs. Two second chances. One new mission.
Welcome to the Monroe Township Police Department, K9 Storm and K9 Stryker.
