Yesterday’s Fall Business Luncheon focused on an important topic for every business owner — safety for your business.

We were fortunate to hear from representatives from the State, New Castle County, Middletown, and Townsend law enforcement agencies. The panel was moderated by Mayor Kenny Branner, and our conversation provided practical information that business owners can take back with them.

A few key takeaways included the importance of having the proper technology in place — and, just as importantly, making sure you know how to operate it before an incident occurs. Being prepared ahead of time can make a significant difference when seconds matter.

We also talked about the importance of communicating with law enforcement before an incident happens — making sure they know your business, understand your layout, know how to access the building, and have the information they may need in an emergency.

Preparedness, communication, and relationships with our local law enforcement agencies all play an important role in keeping our businesses, employees, and community safe.

Volunteers from the City of Newark, & the Town of Middletown, are officially on their way to the Navajo Nation for Navajo Tribal Utility Authority 's (NTUA) annual Fall mutual aid effort! Building on DEMEC's longstanding support of Light Up Navajo, our crew is once again answering the call to help bring electricity to homes in need. They'll join NTUA and utility professionals from across the country for long days and hard work, all in the spirit of helping others. It's a long journey, but one that is worth every mile.

I would like to thank the Town of Middletown Parks Department who recently worked to plant trees in both Doc Levinson Park, and at the entrance to Levels Park.
Also, I would like to thank the Town engineers, and the Delaware Forestry Service who provide the Town of Middletown with our second tree planting grant.

Mail theft falls under the jurisdiction of the United States Postal Inspection Service (USPIS). To report suspected mail theft:
