RECAP Our mission is realized when our neighbors achieve self-sufficiency.

Established as a not for profit in 1965, RECAP serves seniors, children, vets, people living with HIV/AIDS, victims of domestic violence, people struggling with addiction & those struggling to make ends meet. RECAP empowers people and communities challenged by poverty, racism, and social injustice by collaborating with public and private partners to provide high quality health and human services, education, advocacy, and hope.

RECAP was very excited to attend Central Hudson‘s Consumer Outreach Forum this week. Central Hudson is a wonderful partner, and we look forward to this event each year.

We were exceptionally proud RECAP’s Marivette Contes Ortiz was awarded the 2026 Community Partner of the Year. Marivette is the Coordinator of the Fuel Fund at RECAP. In addition to coordinating financial utility assistance, Marivette travels the county to ensure people know about the Fuel Fund and how we can provide assistance for those in need.

Thank you, Central Hudson for recognizing Marivette’s outstanding efforts on behalf of our community.

Today is the last day to comment on proposed changes to Head Start.

For more than 60 years, Head Start has helped children and families across New York State build a strong foundation. Community Action Agencies see that impact every day, and federal officials are required to consider every public comment before finalizing the rule.

Take a few minutes to share your story before midnight: https://buff.ly/qlL9DYt

💜 October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

RECAP stands with survivors and works alongside our community to connect individuals and families with support and resources that promote safety and well-being.

Believe survivors. Break the silence. Speak up. Together, we can build a community where everyone feels safe, supported, and valued.

You are not alone. 💜

📚📝Happy World Teacher’s Day!

Today, we celebrate the teachers and educators who inspire curiosity, build confidence, and help children discover their potential.

At RECAP, we know that every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive and that starts with caring, dedicated educators like we have at our 5 Head Start locations.

Thank you to all of our teachers and the teachers throughout the community who shape brighter futures, one child at a time! 🍎🍎

Eating disorders are complex, and the way we talk about them matters.
On October 7, Access: Center of Excellence (A:CE) and its Institute for Purpose-Driven Leadership & Clinical Excellence will host Beyond the Body: Understanding the Language of Eating Disorders with Dianna Chillo, LCSW-R, and Kyle Wolfe, LDN, CDN.
For professionals and students, this training offers a closer look at the language around eating disorders, the messages surrounding “health,” and the role both can play in recovery.

Registration is free for Access: Network staff,
$50 for students, and $150 for all other attendees.
Space is limited. Register here:
