⚠️ Use Caution at Gun Lake: Harmful Algal Bloom Detected ⚠️

A harmful algal bloom (HAB) has been detected at Gun Lake. While the lake remains open, the BEDHD is urging residents and visitors to use caution and avoid contact with water that has visible algae.

You can't tell if an algal bloom is harmful just by looking at it. To protect yourself and your pets:
💧 Avoid swimming, wading, or playing in water that looks bright green, blue-green, brown, or red, or has floating mats or scum.
🐶 Keep pets out of affected water and do not let them drink lake water.
🧼 If you or your pet come into contact with algae, rinse off right away with clean, fresh water.
👩‍⚕️ Contact your healthcare provider or veterinarian if you or your pet develop symptoms after exposure.

BEDHD will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates as needed.

7/4/26 at 8:30pm - power restored

Power has been restored. Staff is working through the process to get bathrooms open while managing a full park. We appreciate everyone's patience.

---------------------

7/4/26 at 8am - power outage

Attention incoming visitors:
We are without power at our Gun Lake Unit. No power means no bathroom facilities, no water, no credit card machines, and no phone access.

Porta potties are on the way!

Please plan your visit accordingly.

(Note: since yesterday, there are cell tower issues and some have no signal in and around the park).
