Foster care and adoption - Buckner provides the training and resources needed to become a family to a child for a season through foster care or a forever family through domestic foster care or adoption. Children in these programs are most often referred through the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services due to experiencing abuse, neglect or abandonment. We also respond to mothers experiencing an unplanned pregnancy with counseling and support. Single Parents - We provide single-parent families the opportunity to live in a safe, secure environment while completing their educational or vocational goals and learning the skills they need to be self-sufficient. Families are provided support through access to affordable housing, financial assistance, counseling, spiritual growth and case management services. Contact us at 432-520-5588 to find out more. Families - The Family Hope Center model offers a child-centered, family-focused place where families can go to find hope, support and empowerment in Midland to reach their fullest God-given potential. Our programs seek to engage through family assistance and community events; equip families through education, financial empowerment, child and youth development; and elevate families through one-on-one coaching, counseling and spiritual enrichment. The Family Hope Center had a spooktacular time at our glow-in-the-dark painting party! Families came together for a morning full of creativity, laughter, and Halloween fun!

Children, teens, and adults got to create their very own spooky glow-in-the-dark birdhouses while enjoying quality family time, Halloween music, and plenty of delicious snacks. A big thank you to Sergeant Gray for sharing helpful tips and resources with parents, teens, and children to help everyone have a safe and fun Halloween night!

Some of you go to church. And some of you like talking. Some of you are never called on to pray before a meal because those two things mean no one gets to eat before it’s cold. That’s ok. We have a job for you. Host a booth for National Adoption Month and talk to people all day long.

For every one child raised by relatives in foster care, roughly 19 children are raised by kin outside the foster care system. This means they don’t have access to monthly stipends, free resources, a community of partners, counseling, support groups, and more. At Buckner we go above and beyond to help our kinship families, so we can ensure children thrive. If you are in a situation where you are raising a grandchild, niece, or someone else in the family, let Buckner help.

Every parent holds a vision for the future of their family. That vision is not about fixing what is broken, but about strengthening what is already present — the determination to create opportunities that last beyond the present moment. Education is one of the ways families turn that hope into something solid. It offers more than a job today; it opens doors that remain open over time. At Buckner, this understanding shapes how Buckner Family Pathways® is designed and how families are supported as they work toward independence.

Q: What has been the most rewarding thing for y'all about fostering?
A: To watch the children thrive, their personalities blossom, and them coming out of their shell when they finally start to feel comfortable and safe.

Q: What is the hardest thing about fostering?
A: The hardest thing has been the anxiety that comes along with the cases and making sure you are giving the kids everything they deserve. Constantly making sure you are enough for them.

Q: What advice would you give to someone who is considering becoming a foster parent?
A: Love hard, give them your all, and also protect your heart. These kids deserve your whole heart and love. Don’t be afraid to ask for help throughout your journey too, and no question is a silly question.

Our Foster Care & Adoption program equips families with willing hearts and homes to stand in the gap for children who need stability and love. Join us for an info-session and learn more today: https://na2.hubs.ly/H07yQgG0
