Midland County has approved funding for a nearly $2.9 million project to widen two miles of S. County Road 1232, from W. County Road 120 to W. County Road 140.
The road will have one lane in each direction plus a new center turn lane, helping drivers access businesses while keeping through traffic moving in this rapidly growing industrial area south of I-20 and Loop 250 West.
One of the county’s largest road expansions, the project’s final contract is expected to come before Commissioners Court on Oct. 20. If approved, construction is expected to begin within a few weeks.

TRAFFIC ALERT
Due to a bridge strike, the eastbound main lanes of I-20 and the northbound lanes of Loop 250 over I-20 have been closed.
Drivers should expect delays, reduce speed, and seek alternate routes.
Commercial vehicle operators are reminded to know the height of their load before traveling. Over height loads can cause serious damage to bridges, create hazardous conditions, and lead to significant traffic disruptions.
Incidents like this highlight the importance of the ongoing I-20 corridor improvements, which are designed to separate through traffic from local traffic by carrying I-20 over cross streets and interchanges. These improvements enhance safety, improve mobility, and help reduce the potential impacts of crashes and bridge strikes on the regional transportation network.
Additional information will be provided as it becomes available.
