Let us introduce our Employee and Officer of the Quarter for the 3rd Quarter of 2026.

Officer Jose Higareda has been selected as our Officer of the Quarter. He was nominated by his supervisor, Sergeant Wiley, who shared that Officer Higareda โ€œconsistently does quality work, is professional, and is committed to serve our community.โ€ Sergeant Wiley specifically praised his ability to draft thorough, highโ€‘quality reports. One example involved a call in which a resident needed to file a fraud report. Although the original request was to complete the report over the phone, Officer Higareda recognized during the conversation that the callerโ€”an elderly widowโ€”was likely being targeted in an ongoing scam. He arranged an inโ€‘person meeting, reviewed her emails and documents, and assisted her with completing the appropriate paperwork for her bank and other financial institutions. He even contacted her bankโ€™s fraud department on her behalf, explaining the situation and helping ensure she was protected from future fraud attempts. His care and initiative exemplify outstanding service.

Our Nonโ€‘Sworn Employee of the Quarter is Northern Ellis Emergency Dispatch Telecommunicator Brooke Derbyshire, who received two separate nominations. The first nomination came from Dispatch Supervisor Dumbuald, who commended her exceptional initiative, professionalism, and teamwork. He shared that Brooke is always willing to step in wherever she is needed and has made a positive impact on daily operations in the NEED Center. A second nomination came from Patrol Officer Bailey, who noted Brookeโ€™s strong dedication to detail when dispatching. He highlighted her proactive approach, often providing officers with information before it is requested. He added that she has worked multiple highโ€‘stress calls and consistently handles them with calmness and professionalism. โ€œI believe Brooke tries to make us better each day,โ€ Officer Bailey stated.

Please join us in congratulating Officer Jose Higareda and Telecommunicator Brooke Derbyshire on being named MPD Employees of the Quarter.

Early voting for Midlothian's Bond Election is in full swing. Check out this important information before you head to the polls.

Proposition B on the 2026 Bond Referendum would authorize $6.81 million to build a new police department substation to maintain quick response times throughout the 65-square-mile service area. The proposed substation would provide an additional location for police operations in a city that is one of the fastest growing in North Texas. If your child is involved in an e-bike incident, it's you, the parent, who can be held responsible. Just because the salesman said 'it's legal' doesn't mean it is.

Help us keep Midlothian safe by sharing this video and making sure you know whatโ€™s legal before you ride.

๐Ÿฅซโค๏ธ OVER 700 POUNDS OF FOOD DONATED! THANK YOU, MIDLOTHIAN! โค๏ธ๐Ÿฅซ

Once again, the citizens of Midlothian have shown what makes our community so special! ๐Ÿ’™

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our residents, we were able to collect and donate OVER 700 POUNDS of canned goods and nonperishable food items to Manna House Outreach!

These donations will go directly toward helping feed hundreds of families in our area, providing much-needed food and support to those who need it most.

At the Midlothian Police Department, we believe that serving our community goes far beyond wearing a badge. Itโ€™s about coming together, supporting our neighbors, and making a positive difference in the lives of others.

We want to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to every citizen, family, and neighborhood who took the time to donate. Whether you gave one can or an entire bag of groceries, every contribution helped make this possible!

We would also like to thank Manna House Outreach for the incredible work they do every day to support families throughout our community. We are proud to partner with an organization that makes such a meaningful impact.

๐Ÿ’™ This is what community is all about. Neighbors helping neighbors, and a city coming together for a greater purpose.

Thank you, Midlothian, for always showing up and showing out! We couldnโ€™t do it without you! ๐Ÿš”โค๏ธ
