Hello Library Lovers!

Our Sunshine Shelf Needs a Little Sunshine from YOU!

Our Sunshine Shelf has been a HUGE hit with our community, and we are so happy to see it being used! What started as a way to help make everyday essentials a little more accessible has quickly become an important resource for our neighbors. 💛

The response has been even greater than we anticipated, and we’re finding it difficult to keep the shelf stocked on our own. That’s where we’re hoping our wonderful community can help!

If you’re able and would like to donate, we are currently looking for:

- Canned goods
- Pasta & rice
- Snacks
- Shelf-stable food items
- Cleaning supplies
- Laundry detergent & laundry supplies
- Hygiene & personal care items
- Paper products
- Baby supplies
-Books, puzzles & movies
…and other useful household essentials!

Every donation, no matter how big or small, helps. If you have extra items at home that you’d like to pass along, we would be incredibly grateful.

Donations can be dropped off at the Milbridge Public Library during our regular hours, and we’ll make sure they find their way to the Sunshine Shelf. ☀️

And if donating isn’t possible, that’s okay too! Sharing this post helps us reach more people in our community and means just as much. ❤️📚

Thank you to everyone who has already donated, used the shelf, shared our posts, or helped spread the word. The Sunshine Shelf exists because of the kindness and generosity of our community, and we are so grateful to see neighbors helping neighbors. 💛

There are only a few spots left in each session, so grab your spot before they’re gone!

The University of Maine Touch Tank is coming to the library next Friday, August 21st from 10 AM–12 PM!

🎨 Reminder! Teen & Tween Bookend Painting is Tomorrow! 📚

Join us tomorrow from 1:00–4:00 PM at the Milbridge Public Library for our Teen & Tween Bookend Painting!

If you’re ages 9–16, come decorate a bookend with your own unique design. Your artwork will become part of the library, adding color and creativity to our shelves for everyone to enjoy!

A big thank you to Jessica from Within the Whale and, of course, Chunk the Whale for visiting the Milbridge Public Library again!🤍

Everyone had a whale of a time exploring inside Chunk and learning about humpback whales and marine life. We appreciate you sharing such a fun and educational experience with our community. We hope to see you again soon!🐋

🎨 Tween & Teen Bookend Painting! 📚

Join us next Friday from 1:00–4:00 PM for an afternoon of creativity as you paint a bookend!

Your design can follow our Dive Into Reading: Life and Stories of the Maine Coast summer reading theme, or you can let your imagination run wild and create something completely your own.

Ages 9–16 welcome.

🎨 All supplies will be provided.
🍕 Lunch will be provided for everyone who attends.

Participants are welcome to take their finished bookends home, or, if you’d like, you can donate them to the library to be used throughout our collection!

We can’t wait to see what you create!

Examples of the bookends will be posted in the comments.
