There are many traditions in the firehouse. Many things that don't make sense to someone that hasn't lived the life and somethings that do.

Like the military and pilots that earn call signs, the fireservice often has nicknames for its firefighters. Usually something that matches their personalities or sometimes after an event that went well, or not well. Sometimes just a very random event, statement, or a name that just sticks.

Our live-in Ian comes from that later. The name Mouse just kind of happened. More out of habit, then more and more. No one can really explain the part or time it "sticks" but for young Ian, when the kids at the Elementary School started calling him Firefighter Mouse...that kind of solidified the deal.

Today we presented Firefighter Mouse with his official call sign plaque. Yes of course its a giant mouse trap. What else would be appropriate?

Congratulations FF Mouse of Station 80!!

Another great night of training! Greenbush came out to train with us. We approached the night as a water rescue night going over boat operations at night, not an easy adventure. Lt Sanborn taking our live in student Ian and chief mccrum for a jaunt around the sandbar island. Lt Hendrick worked with a group donning and the functions of our survival suits. Everyone got a chance to swim! Dc Hammond showed off his previous life as a cowboy and taught throwing of a rope bag with accuracy.... and some without, lol..

A great night! Skills were learned. Laughs were had. And what is better than that??

This afternoon, several of our members refreshed their CPR training with our own LT Chris Stowell teaching. This a very obvious skill to have mastered and renewed regularly but is also a very important skill for everyone to know!

We teach classes to groups, organizations and classroom. If you are interested in learning this life saving skill reach out to us or the red cross or multiple other health agencies in the area for a class. It literally can safe a life!

Poppy wants to let you know she is 7 and has it down! Though her hand....paw.... placement is a bit off!

Thanks for stopping by! We love getting a chance to talk to our neighbors and teach to the future firefighters! And who doesn't love puddles!

Tonight we blackened the room, fogged their masks and made them search in almost complete blindness. Weird, just like a real fire, lol. Everyone did good, some lessons were learned and like all trainings, we move forward each time!

Sorry, my camera struggled with this adventure, photos are not the best! But considering the room was very, very dark it did ok.
