Not every cost shows up on a bill. Some come from keeping your word.

When keeping my oath meant voting to impeach a president, I knew it would likely cost me the election. I cast that vote anyway, and I'd do it again.

In this week’s Salt Lake Tribune op-ed, I put four commitments in writing: restore the health coverage Congress cut, give working families a real path to a first home, take back Congress’s power over tariffs, and ban congressional stock trading. Hold me to them.

In 2018, Utah voters expanded Medicaid since the Legislature wouldn’t. Under Amendment B, that vote would have failed, and thousands of Utahns would still be uninsured.

Amendment B would require certain tax-related ballot initiatives to clear a 60% bar. The Legislature still raises taxes with a simple majority. Same rules for them, harder rules for you.

When you get your ballot, vote AGAINST Amendment B, and finish your ballot all the way to the bottom.

Ballots are in the mail! A few rules changed this year, and I don’t want anyone’s vote thrown out over a technicality.

Sign your return envelope and write the last four digits of your Utah driver's license, state ID, or Social Security number.

Your ballot has to reach the county clerk by 8 p.m. on Nov. 3. A postmark isn’t enough anymore. Mail it by Oct. 30, or drop it in a ballot drop box after that.

No ballot by the end of the week? Check your registration at vote.utah.gov. Register by Oct. 23 to get one in the mail. Already registered and it never came? Request one from the county clerk by Oct. 27.

Early in-person voting starts Oct. 20 at the Salt Lake County Government Center (2001 S. State). Not registered? You can register and vote on the spot, all the way through Election Day.

Your groceries, your gas, your health care: people in Washington made choices that drove those costs up. Congress holds the power to end the war in Iran and the trade war, and to root out the corruption in Washington. It’s time it used them. We’re done picking up the tab.

Ballots are in the mail!

Don't forget: ballots now have to be received by the county clerk by 8 p.m. on Nov. 3. Postmarks won’t count anymore, so vote early and use a drop box in the final week.

Drop boxes, early voting, and Election Day vote center info can be found at benmcadams.com/vote.

I’d be honored to earn your vote.

Another packed weekend! Knocked doors with some fantastic candidates and volunteers, stopped by the Avenues Street Fair, finally met the Salt Lake Wizard, and spent time with the SLCo Democrats Environmental Caucus talking about protecting our public lands and keeping our air clean.

Ballots go in the mail tomorrow. That leaves 21 days. If you’ve been waiting to get involved, now’s the time: mobilize.us/benmcadamsforcongressut01

5 days until ballots go out. 26 until Election Day.

Prices keep climbing, the lake keeps shrinking, and the people in charge keep doing just fine. They’re counting on the rest of us to stay home. We’re not.

We’re done picking up their tab, and we’re done waiting for someone else to fix it. I hope you'll join us.

Thanks to the University of Utah College Democrats for having me last night. We talked about how I got into this work and why I'd encourage any of them to try public service. You get to see your work show up in people's lives, and that never gets old.

They asked great questions about the cost of college and what the Trump administration is doing to higher education. I understand where they're coming from. I worked three jobs to get through school, sold plasma to make rent, and I'm still paying off my student loans. Students today are carrying far more than I did. And they deserve better.

Thanks for the sharp questions and for showing up. Go Utes!

We are 28 days away from an incredibly consequential election, and whoever wins will have big decisions to make. Will we step up and save the Great Salt Lake? Are we going to protect our public lands? Are we going to make life more affordable for Utahns? I hope you'll vote by November 3rd and choose a representative you know will have your back.

Most political fights are reversible. A bad law gets repealed. A bad budget gets rewritten next session. Utah's public lands aren't that kind of fight — once we carve up our land for mining, drilling, and logging, no next election undoes it. Those are the stakes of this election, and that's why this issue can't be treated like a normal policy debate. I don't want to think about what happens if we get this wrong. Let's make sure we don't.

Thank you to the Westside Coalition for having me at their candidate forum last night!

Every door I knock on, I hear the same thing: people are worried about filling the tank today, groceries this week, and rent at the end of the month. If you work hard, you should be able to afford a decent life here. Right now, too many families can't.

I told the crowd where I'd start. End the war in Iran, which is driving up what we pay for gas and food. And keep pushing on the housing work I've been doing for years so families can afford the homes they're living in.

I hope to fight for this community in Congress again.
