Miller Place School District is proud to celebrate Curriculum Specialist for Elementary Education, Mr. Evan Curran, for presenting at the Annual Long Island Technology and Education Summit this past weekend!

During his session, “Coding in Motion: Creative Learning with Indi Cars,” Mr. Curran shared innovative ways to integrate hands-on coding and STEM experiences into classroom instruction. Educators explored strategies to foster creativity, collaboration, and student-centered learning while gaining practical tools to bring coding activities to life across grade levels and subject areas.

Thank you, Mr. Curran, for sharing your expertise and helping educators discover new ways to inspire learning through technology.

Congratulations to Mr. Brian Mas, third grade teacher at Laddie A. Decker Sound Beach School, on being named the Suffolk Salutes Education Award Grand Prize Winner!

Recognized for making a difference in the lives of students and the community, Mr. Mas was awarded the $1,000 grand prize through Suffolk Credit Union’s Suffolk Salutes program, which celebrates local heroes who go above and beyond in their fields.

Congratulations to junior Ella Behrens on being recognized among Newsday’s top first-year varsity cross-country runners on Long Island!

After transitioning from soccer to year-round running this summer, Ella has made an impressive impact on the course, clocking a 20:14.63 in the 5K at Sunken Meadow State Park. Her outstanding performance ranks ninth on Long Island at one of the state’s most challenging courses.

We’re proud of Ella’s hard work, determination, and success in her first varsity cross-country season.

A Homecoming to remember!

Our community came out in full force for a fun, spirited parade filled with creative floats, energetic marching, and plenty of Panther pride. Thank you to our students, clubs, families and staff who made it so special!

Then the Panthers capped off the day with an amazing win on the field! Congratulations to our players and coaches on a hard-fought victory, and thank you to everyone in the stands who cheered them on.

On Friday, third graders at Laddie Decker had a special virtual visit from famous author Jeff Kinney! Jeff talked to students about his iconic book series and his new book, Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Fight or Flight. He gave them a virtual tour of his office, drew some favorite characters live, read an exclusive sneak peek of his new book, and even shared a never-before-seen trailer for the upcoming Diary of a Wimpy Kid movie on Disney+!

The students were thrilled to hear about his journey as an author, and they loved his inspiring advice for future writers and illustrators. Jeff even answered questions the students submitted. It was an unforgettable experience for everyone!

Panther Pride was on full display at the Miller Place High School Pep Rally today! The excitement was palpable in the stands as our students showed their passion, brought the energy, and cheered on their classmates throughout the games and spirit activities. Congratulations to all our winners, and a big thank you to our students and staff for making Spirit Week such a success.

Strong schools start with strong leadership! During School Board Appreciation Week, the Miller Place School District proudly recognizes our Board of Education members for the important role they play in supporting our Panthers and building a strong foundation for the future.

From guiding District priorities to championing opportunities for students, their dedication helps move our schools forward. Thank you for your continued service, partnership, and commitment to the Miller Place community!

Our students at Andrew Muller and Laddie A. Decker spent last Friday learning from real firefighters and EMTs. They saw the trucks and ambulances up close, watched firefighters gear up and crawl low under smoke, and learned the most important fire safety tips.

Fire safety lessons like “stay low and go,” knowing two ways out, and never hiding from a firefighter can make all the difference in an emergency. We’re so proud of how much our students learned, and we hope they bring these lessons home to share with their families.

A huge thank you to the Miller Place and Sound Beach Fire Departments for taking the time to visit our schools and teach our students about fire safety. We’re so grateful for everything you do to keep our community safe!
