In the wake of today’s SCOTUS Decision, Maryland’s leading Democrats have been lamenting how this ruling will undoubtedly bring more death and violence to our state.
The problem is … the facts aren’t in their favor.
Maryland has among the most restrictive concealed carry laws in the nation - just as restrictive as the New York law struck down today.
Look at the facts..
Maryland has issued ONLY 24,000 permits, yet has a MUCH, MUCH higher homicide rate than our neighbors who have issued FAR, FAR more.
It’s pretty obvious… law-abiding gun owners who wish to carry a firearm to protect themselves and their families aren’t the issue.
The repeat violent criminals who consistently get sweetheart plea deals and return right back to the streets are the issue.
The do-nothing legislators who refuse, year after year, to pass tough-on-crime legislation targeting the criminals who are *actually* using guns in the commission of violent crimes - they are the issue.
Don’t let them distract you. The numbers are clear.
Their inaction is what makes us less safe.
