The return of Lucy Elementary to Millington Municipal Schools gives us an exciting opportunity to plan for the future of our elementary schools and early-learning programs as our community continues to grow.

As we prepare for the 2027–28 school year, we are looking at how Lucy Elementary, Millington Primary, and Millington Early Learning Academy can best serve our youngest students and families.

No final decision has been made. We are currently looking at three possible models: keeping MELA as a separate early-learning school with two elementary schools, creating schools that serve different grade levels, or having two elementary schools that each serve PreK–5 students.

Before any recommendation is made, we want to hear from you.

Our short survey asks families what matters most when thinking about our schools, including strong learning opportunities, early learning, school transitions, transportation, keeping siblings together, class sizes, access to programs and resources, and planning for future growth.

Hello Families! 👋

We made it to Fall Break! Next week is our official break. All schools will be closed. Central Office will be open Monday and Tuesday, then closed the remainder of the week. We hope you all take this opportunity to relax, recharge, and enjoy some wonderful time off. 🍁

Please note our return schedule:

Monday, October 19: Teachers return for a Professional Development Day. Students do not come to school.

Tuesday, October 20: Students return to begin the 2nd quarter! 🎒✨

Halloween Spooktacular: Saturday, October 17 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

Trunk or Treat & Movie Night: Head to Discovery Park on Saturday, October 24! The Police Department Trunk or Treat is from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A free showing of the movie Halloweentown follows right after at 7:30 PM.

Veterans Day Essay Contest: Students in grades 4 through 12 can practice their writing skills and honor our hometown heroes. Submissions are due by October 28.

Monster Dash Family Fun Run: Kick off Halloween on Saturday, October 31 at the Millington Football Stadium. Check in starts at 8:30 AM.

At approximately 12:25 PM, MCMHS received a report of a suspicious individual walking outside the campus gates. Out of an abundance of caution, the high school immediately initiated lockdown procedures. Law enforcement responded swiftly to ensure all students and staff were safe. Following a thorough sweep of the campus and surrounding area, the lockdown has been officially lifted. The Millington Police Department will maintain an increased presence in the area for the remainder of the afternoon.

The safety of our students and staff is of the utmost importance, and we will continue to treat every potential threat as credible. We appreciate your patience, cooperation, and vigilance in keeping our school community safe.

Millington Municipal Schools deeply appreciates the generosity that local businesses and community members consistently extend to our students, athletic programs, fine arts programs, and extracurricular activities. We value your support and are fully committed to continuing these vital community partnerships for years to come.

To protect our local partners and ensure that donations directly benefit our students, we urge extreme caution if you are approached for sponsorships, advertisements, or donations from an individual or organization you do not know or have never worked with before.

Unauthorized third-party solicitors are actively contacting local businesses claiming to represent Millington schools, sports teams, or clubs. A common tactic involves selling ad space on "free" t-shirts, banners, or schedules allegedly being donated to our schools. These efforts by unknown third-party solicitors are NOT affiliated with or endorsed by Millington Municipal Schools.

Verification Steps Before Donating

To safeguard your business and ensure your support reaches our students:
🪪Require Credentials: Ask the solicitor to show an official MMSD identification badge or a signed letter of authorization on official school letterhead.

📲Verify Directly: Confirm the legitimacy of the drive with our school principals or Central Office before agreeing to any sponsorship or purchasing ad space,

Taking a moment to confirm these requests ensures 100% of your contribution reaches our schools, students, teams, and programs. Please help us spread the word by alerting neighboring businesses, local network contacts, and fellow community partners about these unauthorized solicitations to help protect our entire business community.

🎉 Congratulations to our Millington Municipal School District Board of Education members! Several of our leaders were honored with 2026 TSBA Boardsmanship Awards for their exceptional commitment to training, leadership, and volunteerism beyond the local level. 🏆

The TSBA Boardsmanship program recognizes both the quantity and quality of participation in board activities. Levels I–IV were awarded at the Fall District Meeting.
