Everybody! We rescued a young Eastern Milk Snake. Related to king snakes, these guys are completely harmless. They have been known to defend themselves when handled, but this one is so small it's only dangerous to a young cricket!

There’s nothing quite like watching fresh confidence build on the water. 💙
Today, 11 kayakers joined us for our annual Kayaking 101 class at Meeman-Shelby Forest State Park. Under the expert guidance of our very own Ranger ANDe Demetriou (who is also a certified ACA Level 2 river kayaking instructor trainer) and his team, these paddlers mastered the basics to kick off their kayaking adventures safely.
This day wouldn't be possible without our amazing partners: ACA Tennessee, Tennessee State Parks, and the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA). Thank you for keeping our waters safe and our community growing!
Park administrator Tim Plunk joins in on pickin in the park, our newest campground attraction offered ever other Wednesday and every other Friday weekly through the season from 6pm til 8pm at the Campground Shelter.
