Located within the Memphis Aerotropolis (America’s Distribution Center) with an 8,000 ft. runway and lots of apron space along with a 1,350-acre development area. We are pleased to announce the Millington-Memphis Airport Fire Department has been awarded a grant in the amount of $56,628.00 through the 2026 Volunteer Firefighter Equipment and Training Grant program. This grant is administered by the Tennessee State Fire Marshal’s Office, under the Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance. Our department qualifies for this grant due to the percentage of part time FF's on our staff.
This funding represents a significant advancement in enhancing the safety, readiness, and operational effectiveness of our department. It will enable us to acquire much-needed upgrades to our turnout gear.
I would like to express my sincere appreciation to the Millington Airport Authority Board of Directors and Executive Director Mike Gill for your steadfast support during the grant application process. Your guidance, advocacy, and commitment to our department's priorities were essential to this successful outcome.
We are also profoundly grateful to the Tennessee State Legislature for their ongoing dedication to bolstering the fire service throughout our state.
