Looking for a cool angle to view or photograph Katahdin? Discover River Pond Nature Trail, a peaceful 4.6-mile network of mostly level trails winding through mixed hardwood forest between River Pond and the West Branch of the Penobscot River.

Choose a quick nature walk or follow a longer loop through the woods. Along the way, capture beautiful views of Katahdin across River Pond, explore the shoreline at Moose Point, and watch for birds, deer, moose, and other North Woods wildlife. Pets are permitted, making it a wonderful place to explore with your four-legged companion.

Parking is available, but the trail is located off the Golden Road on land managed by Katahdin Forest Management LLC. IMPORTANT: Remember that the Golden Road is an active private logging road—drive carefully and always yield to logging trucks.
