🚨 SEVERE WEATHER & HEAVY RAINFALL ALERT 🚨

🌧️ MILLTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT WEATHER ADVISORY ⛈️

The Milltown Police Department wants to make residents aware of the potential for heavy rainfall, strong to damaging winds, and flooding beginning Wednesday, October 14th, and continuing through Thursday night, October 15th.

Multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms are expected to move through our area beginning Wednesday late morning.

🌧️ EXPECTED RAINFALL:

* Widespread rainfall totals of 0.5 to 1.5 inches.
* Some localized areas could receive 2 to 4 inches of rain.
* Repeated rounds of heavy rainfall could lead to flash flooding, especially in low-lying and flood-prone areas.
* Gusty to damaging winds could bring down tree limbs and cause power outages.

⚠️ IMPORTANT SAFETY PRECAUTIONS:

🚗 TURN AROUND, DON’T DROWN! Never attempt to drive through flooded roadways. It only takes 12 inches of moving water to carry away many vehicles.

🌊 WATCH LOW-LYING AREAS: Be especially cautious near creeks, streams, drainage areas, and roads that frequently flood.

💨 PREPARE FOR STRONG WINDS: Secure outdoor furniture, trash cans, and other loose objects that could become airborne.

🏠 HAVE A SAFE PLACE: If severe weather threatens, move indoors and stay away from windows.

🔦 PREPARE FOR POWER OUTAGES: Keep flashlights, charged cell phones, batteries, and emergency supplies readily available.

📱 STAY WEATHER AWARE: Have multiple ways to receive weather alerts, including a NOAA Weather Radio and emergency notifications on your phone.

🚧 NEVER DRIVE AROUND BARRICADES: Road closure signs and barricades are placed for your safety. Floodwaters may conceal washed-out pavement or other hazards.

🚨 REPORT HAZARDS: Report downed trees, flooded roadways, and dangerous conditions to the appropriate authorities. For emergencies, call 911. Never approach downed power lines.

👮 A MESSAGE FROM YOUR MILLTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT:

Our officers will continue monitoring weather and roadway conditions throughout this weather event.

We encourage everyone to remain alert, use caution while traveling, and check on elderly neighbors and those who may need assistance.

Remember, no destination is worth risking your life by driving through floodwaters.

Stay safe, Milltown! 💙
