Mitchell Park Domes Experience a desert oasis, a tropical jungle and floral gardens at Milwaukee's living plant museum. Visit us year-round, from Wed-Sun.

Plants make people happy, and with thousands of wild and wonderful plants growing and blooming inside our tropical, desert and floral domes, it's no surprise that our living museum is one of Milwaukee's most loved destinations. The floral display in the Floral Show Dome changes five times each year. Check the website for the latest theme. The Domes are also available to rent for your special occasion. To discuss renting contact the contracted vendor, Zilli Hospitality Group at (262) 547-9447 or visit http://www.zillihospitalitygroup.com/

Straight from a certain show we've dubbed, "America's Got Talons"--it's the fabulous Hissy Kits!

This energetic feline duo returns to the Domes Friday, November 27 from 6:30 to 8pm. They'll caterwaul (caterwail?) their way through classic swing, blues, and jazz tunes, all rendered in feline style, with meows and oddly human vocals backed up by our favorite electronic instrument, the Theremin.

Be part of the growing Kits Kraze!

The ofrenda (altar) is a vivid memorial to loved ones who have passed. But this isn't a morbid display; it's a joyous celebration of the lives of the departed. La Familia de Arte created the pictured ofrenda--now on display in the Desert Dome--in anticipation of our Día de los Mu***os event October 30. It's pruning season within the domes. Please note that Desert pruning, a twice-yearly project, is in progress in the Arid Dome. Once they're finished in the Desert, the horticultural team moves to the Tropical Dome for its trim. The project takes at least two weeks, and sections of the walkways will be closed while the lift is used in those areas. Thank you for your patience during this necessary procedure. mitchellparkdomes.com

Behind the scenes. Since 1964 the Transition House has served as a transitional space for the growing and storage of plants destined for display in our domes. And now, with the 2027 activation of the "Domes Reimagined" plan, there's a unique new function planned for this structure, which sits just east of the Show Dome. Phase 1 of the project--which is being driven by our nonprofit partner, Milwaukee Domes Alliance--includes restoration of the Show Dome, the addition of a cafe; and the conversion of the Transition House to an interactive children's garden: the "Little Sprouts Dome." It's an exciting time to be a dome! Read more about the reimagination plan here: https://milwaukeedomes.org/the-future-of-the-domes/

Congratulations to Emily, Mel and the entire Domes horticultural team for creating another captivating floral Fall Show.

Ease into our crystalline pyramid--the Show Dome--and be transported to ancient Egypt where, with a bit of imagination, you'll find yourself in communion with the pharaohs. "Treasures of the MUMmies" is the deliberately punny title for this elaborate exhibit: nearly 3,000 individual mum plants comprise the multihued floral bed.

On your next visit to the Mitchell Park Horticulture Conservatory, the Domes https://milwaukeedomes.org, take time to check out the beautiful entry garden designed by Roy Diblik author of The Know Maintenance Perennial Garden to support beneficial insects, be low maintenance and drought tolerant. The white flowers are calamint (Clinopodium nepeta nepeta formerly Calamintha nepeta nepeta) a long blooming, heat and drought tolerant bee favorite perennial hardy in zones 5 (possibly parts of 4) through 7.
