It is with great sadness that we share the passing of former site director, Allen Schroder. Allen and his wife Susan were very active in the Mineral Point community attending and supporting many local events and remaining strongly connected with the sties after retirement. Allen was the director for Stonefield, Pendarvis and First Capitol from 1995 until his retirement in October of 2016. He was a proud Navy veteran, storyteller, family man and friend. Our condolences to Susan and his family.

Pendarvis staff visited the Mineral Point Library Archives earlier this week to learn more about the collection. We were especially interested to see the Pendarvis House Records and Robert M. Neal Papers. Thanks to Shan for taking time to show our team around and pull some interesting items for us to learn from.

Get over to the archives at the Mineral Point Public Library if you're looking for good resources on Mineral Point or local family history!

Happy birthday to Pendarvis co-founder Bob Neal!

Born in 1906 in Mineral Point, Bob lived and worked in Chicago, New York City, and London in his 20s. He returned to Mineral Point in 1934, then bought and restored his first Cornish cottage in 1935 with business and life partner Edgar Hellum. This first home was named Pendarvis and was the start of Bob's lifelong work with Edgar to preserve Mineral Point history.
