Weathersfield Fire Department The Weathersfield Township Fire Department was founded in January 1999, on the principal of "Community Service."

The formation of the Department was the combined efforts of the Mineral Ridge Volunteer Fire Department Inc., McKinley Heights Mutual Benefits Association, and the Board of Trustees. The two private fire companies joined forces to form a stronger more efficient Fire Department. Expansion from two single companies, all volunteer unit, to a multiple station paid per call organization. The fire department provides residential fire inspections when requested. They also inspect all new businesses and any updates done to current businesses within the Township. You may have seen some smoke and fire trucks along Salt-Springs Road and 4-Mile Run Road in Mineral Ridge on Sunday. There was no emergency, but a rare live-fire training exercise that concluded with the burn-down of a former residence.

This is a short highlight video of what it's like to witness one of these trainings.

Thanks to McDonald Fire Chief Fred Marcum for setting up this months-long training. Special thanks to Weathersfield Fire Chief Thomas Lambert and the Weathersfield Fire Department. McDonald Fire Department, Trumbull County Water Shuttle, MCCTC Fire Instructors, Hazard Control Technologies (which supplied the F500 Encapsulator Agent), the Weathersfield Township Administration and Trustees, and John Garland and Family for donating the home to train in.
