From the conference room to the forest! 🌲

Yesterday, attendees headed into the forests surrounding Seattle for a firsthand look at responsible forest management.

Led by Rowan Braybrook, Deputy Director of Northwest Natural Resource Group (NNRG), the field tour took participants through Seattle’s Cedar River Municipal Watershed and Hanson Timberlands to explore FSC-certified forest management practices, habitat conservation, wildfire risk reduction, and sustainable timber harvesting.

It was an opportunity to see responsible forestry in action and connect the conversations happening at Stewardship in Action to the forests at the heart of our mission.

A big thank you to Rowan, NNRG, and all our field tour hosts for sharing their knowledge and expertise!

Another step forward for responsible sourcing. 🌲

Congratulations to Westwood Millworks, a Georgia-based manufacturer of thermally modified wood, for its new FSC Chain of Custody certification.

"Responsible sourcing has been central to how we're building this company," said Brent Hall, CEO of Westwood Millworks. "FSC Chain of Custody provides independent, third-party verification of what our customers already trust us to do. For architects and builders working toward LEED, that documentation matters."

The certification enables Westwood Millworks to source, track and supply FSC-certified material for projects that require it, helping provide traceability throughout the production process.

For architects, builders and designers, FSC certification provides greater assurance that certified wood products are responsibly sourced and independently verified.
