AdoptAClassroom.org AdoptAClassroom.org is a nonprofit fundraising platform for PreK-12 teachers and principals. Many people ask, how we support our operations.
(358)

It is estimated that more than 15 million children don’t have the resources they need to succeed in school and that teachers spend more than $1.6 billion a year stocking their own classrooms due to a lack of funding in schools. Supporting K-12th grade students, including public, private, and charter school classrooms, AdoptAClassroom.org makes it easy for donors to provide funding and support to classrooms throughout America. Teachers register their classrooms and needs online; donors discover classrooms through simple search tools, and make targeted contributions. As an award-winning 501(c)(3) non-profit, we are able to connect donors with every classroom in the country. Since we were founded in 1998, AdoptAClassroom.org has connected thousands of donors with over 148,000 classrooms. We have raised over $28 million and estimate that we have improved the learning environment for over 2 million children. AdoptAClassroom.org is a national nonprofit that receives operational support from corporate sponsors, individuals who generously donate to our Annual Fund, and contributions from vendors on our site.

LaShel, a first-year instructional library specialist, inherited a makerspace consisting of a few bare tables and broken supplies. Her students were bored and unengaged.

With support through AdoptAClassroom.org, LaShel transformed her space. She stocked shelves with hands-on tools and essential supplies. Her students took on new STEM challenges using these new materials, such as building the tallest freestanding structure.

Mother-and-son teacher duo Karen and Martin raised more than $8,000 to enrich the lives of students and colleagues at their school.

Here are their tips for successful crowdfunding:

✏️Take advantage of classroom donation matches through AdoptAClassroom.org!
✏️ On your AdoptAClassroom.org Classroom Page AND in social media asks, be specific about your school supply needs. Tell potential donors exactly how their support will impact student decision-making.
✏️ Be strategic about posting on social media! For example, find pages where followers are already invested in your school, like an alumni page.

Jennefa is a special education teacher at a public Montessori school. With donations through AdoptAClassroom.org, Jennefa put together a toolbox of SEL, literacy and math materials.

How did she raise these donations? By posting about her classroom on social media! She posted a photo of her classroom (with no identifiable students) and let her community know what kind of supplies they needed and why.
