Each year, FamilyWise shines a spotlight on organizations, agencies, and community-based initiatives statewide that have consistently worked to create safe, healthy, and supportive environments for children and families through our Pinwheel for Prevention Awards. Congratulations to this week's highlighted recipient, the Follow Along Program!

The Follow Along Program is a free statewide service that supports families with babies and young children as they grow and learn. As part of the program, families complete periodic questionnaires and receive fun activities to help their child explore and learn through play. MDH is working with community partners (FamilyWise being one of them) to reimagine the program, improving equitable access and connection to resources from a cultural and linguistical lens.

In 2025, we helped parents and kids build their natural support networks, provided deeper levels of navigation support for families as they face long waitlists for services like housing assistance and mental health care, and provided educational and skill-building trainings to community members across the state on childhood trauma and resiliency.

Thank you to the community partners, donors, advocates, and neighbors who have stepped up to make children and families feel seen, valued, and supported.

This week, our staff gathered together for an all-staff retreat at Harriet Alexander Nature Center! The theme was wellness, and the day featured a variety of ways to relax and reflect, including yoga, crafts, massages, spa supplies, and sound baths. The retreats are a great opportunity for the staff across the state to gather together in one place.
